Die Reise von Swine Tax begleiten wir schon einige Jahre. Deswegen kann ich auch sagen, wie sehr sich die Band entwickelt und mit jeder Single immer besser wird. Der Sound der Band ist zwar nicht mehr so rotzig, wie ganz am Anfang, dennoch verliert er dadurch nix an seiner Authentizität. ‚Johnny‘ klingt genau so direkt, wie seine Vorgänger.

Über den Song sagt die Band: “Johnny is about someone that lives with an addiction and it’s told from their perspective with fractured bits of conversation. The song’s cool groove and uneasy mood is a reflection of their state of mind. We were inspired musically by the jam-based approach of artists such as Clinic, CAN and The Velvet Underground, though predictably it sounds quite unlike those bands.”
