“The idea behind ‘Humming Bees’ was to strip everything down completely and see what would happen if we only got one chance to record each element—much like life itself. We wanted to preserve the magic that is often lost when you try to perfect things, and create something raw and genuine. The song is about growing up in a time when you were always told that ‘it’s healthy to be bored,’ when the forest played a leading role in life, and goldfish funerals in the garden were a monthly occurrence.
